Continued meditation brings great profit to the soul. Passant and transient thoughts are more pleasant, but not so profitable. Deliberate meditation is of most use because it secures the return of the thoughts. —Thomas Manton

Spit in the Face
Spit in the face
Disgrace
Displaced from society
Minority
Why oh why do we not see?
Free
Stripes across the back
Slash
I had the whip
Trip
Don’t slip
Flip
The page
A new chapter written
Smitten
My iniquities beaten
Defeatin’
Sins of my past
Don’t last
For they are
Far…Far
Like the east
From the west
Now I have power
This hour
Take the sword, the shield
March forward, don’t yield
The Gospel holdin’
Good News showin’
His Word sayin’
Speakin’ after prayin’
Another Seed planted
Waters
Grows
Shows
Signs of life
Maintained
Sustained
Then proclaimed
On purpose
The blood spillin’
“The Hero
Dyin’ for the Vill’in”
No greater story
Told
The Father
Sacrificing the Son
For when He said
“It is Finished”
It was done

Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred and Five
Thirteen thousand five hundred and five days
Three hundred million slaves
One power at the helm
Guided by Three (yet One)
Thirty seven years to realize
Whole-hearted souls materialize
Created by a masterful agenda
Guided by a Decree
Thirteen thousand eight hundred and seventy
What kind of man will I be
Forged by the forcible
Or managed by the Free
Thirty eight years coming so quickly
More and more seem sickly
Powers that be will be
I will look across the Crystal Sea

Sometimes are only Sometimes
Sometimes I'm not sure
Sometimes I'm not hopeful
Sometimes I feel it's over
-Sometimes-
Sometimes It feels helpless
Sometimes It seems impossible
Sometimes It's only black
-Sometimes-
Times are comin'
when the rain will fade
when the sun will break
and tears will be no more
-Someday-
Times are comin'
when death will be life
when pain will not be a word
and fears are a memory
-Someday-
...............
Sometimes are only Sometimes
but Someday will be forever

SIN.
SIN. What everyone loves. What everyone hates.
SIN. Fish swimming at deadly bate.
SIN. Sacrificing all for instant pleasure.
SIN. No amount of pain can measure.
SIN. Kissing Satan making you weak.
SIN. Kissing the Son on the other cheek.
SIN. Never enough. Always more.
SIN. Further than you ever swore.
SIN. Facade of happiness in your mind
SIN. The next morning depression you find
SIN. Playing with fire. Getting burned.
SIN. Wishing you listened. Wishing you learned.

One Last Call
Denying conscience
Forbidding the wooing of whispers
Blood shed for payment
yet captive by the tempters
There is a Devil
joke as you may
but a battle ensues
as you continue to play
He laughs at your naivety
your pompous activity
drowning in pleasures
of endless frivolity
Choking on sins
that pin you to the ground
that once were a pleasure
but now a sad clown
You MUST continue
for it is your master
to him will you bow
for ever after
But one last call
whispers in your ear
come home my child
shed your last tear
For my call goes out
to the weak and the weary
take now my hand
and avoid my fury
for there will come a day
my patience will end
and I must punish
all who offend
Do not forget
it was I who created
this design of grace
of which you have hated
No greater love
could I ever display
than the blood of my Son
on that chosen day
My Spirit is calling
one last time
take the payment now
or pay for your crime

Protect your children: Teach them to love Truth.
Lately I've seen or heard a lot of statements from Christians that are very concerning. I wonder how in the world someone can believe or think something contrary to what it is very clear in the Bible? In most cases I think it is unintentional, but this is concerning. Many people are taught to base things on feelings or perhaps solid arguments that support an idea. Shouldn't the simple question be "Is it true"? Please understand that my intentions are not to convince you that my way is always the right way. My concern is simply that I see many people who do not seek out what is true, but rather what is popular, convenient or feels good. This kind of thinking is a basis for error, corruption and destruction in the generations to come. I've been thinking lately about how to protect my children even as they get older and leave the home. Will they follow the Bible, or some trend, or new idea pushed by a church who is guided by feelings instead of truth? My thinking will be wrong sometimes, but if I teach my children to love truth, then they will not just do something because "dad said it", but they will love a truth simply because it is true. My children may not have my same convictions on everything, but will they love truth? Can we sit down and have conversations based on the desire to analyze and follow what is true, instead of prove our opinion? This takes humility. We must be willing to admit we are wrong...for we will be. I never quite understood the verse in Proverbs 23:23 "Buy the truth, and sell it not..", but I wonder if this is exactly what is being communicated? Buy truth! Don't sell it for trends, ideas or pressure! May our children love truth, for God is Truth. May our children hate lies, for the devil is its father.
A few thoughts I had tonight on truth, to pass down to the next generation:
-Truth of God's Word (seeking what is true and not with preconceived ideas)
-Truth in Conversation (be careful what you say and don't believe every word, but test)
-Truth in Trends (can be a form of control to sell or motivate)
-Truth in History (FACTS and not just American heroism or political expediency)
-Truth in Friendship (Be honest and be willing to accept honest feedback)
-Truth in Media (don't be overly influenced simply by emotional or crafty deliveries)
May our children say, "I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgements have I laid [before me]. Ps 119:30

I Live for You Now
Strangled with hope
released from the chains
of tainted justice
created from a mind
of confusion
blurred vision
crowded out thoughts
of goodness
invaded by temptations
of human depravity
what is mere man
that Thou should
hear his cry?
Oh Father
why?
We've touched
the tomb of emptiness
smoked the kindles
of Hell
holding on to the brimstone
of love
for ourselves
of hate
for ourselves
gritting our teeth
forming an impression
of past sins
unforgotten
unforgiven
Hell hath it's fury
Why Oh God
have you
poured mercy
on the weak?
had compassion
on your enemy?
It is not I
who have sought You
You called
You chose
You bought
my soul
Suicidal thoughts
of my former man
haunting memories
he still lives
yet You've killed him
he's dead
You're alive
I live
I live for You now

Kill the Clown
6 shells drop
from a trigger finger
hold on tight
don't let it linger
hair pin turns
and split second decisions
fashioned by fads
and fairy tale visions
feasts are plagues
with flags of freedom
flying the foolishness
disguised as wisdom
why so serious
the joker grins
as he draws the blood
of a million kids
CHILDREN!!~~~
kill the noise
of prideful whispers
cut the cord
with truthful scissors
the gun is real
it's dark ammunition
puts in the key
and starts the ignition
play not with fire
lest you be burned
hear from scars
the life that was learned

Contrast
I once was a slave to sadness
Now I am a slave to joy
Though sometimes I long
for the sad path
Your love grips my soul
To gorge on fleshly lusts
To relish in temptations of Hell
I remember then the happiness
of when Your Holy Spirit fell
Nothing I did or can possibly do
changed this heart of mine
You reached down in mercy
and forgave my every crime
You loved me with no conditions
Upon Grace You did pursue
And changed my heart of sadness
to give desires that were new
Now a battle rages
between the sadness and the joy
Give me power of resistance
The power of Your Word employ
I am forever grateful
That I am still a slave
but now it is Your righteousness
for which my heart doth crave
I once was a slave to sadness
Now I am a slave to joy
Though sometimes I long
for the sad path
Your love grips my soul

Silent Song
walk the night alone
sunshine drops upon my lips
silent dew upon the brow
wishing to drown in the sea
of pointless people
hopeless cause for happiness
strumming the sad cords
beating drums of doom
holding the New Song
waiting too long
for wrong... to be right
for blindness... to be sight
I can sing
but it matters not
for I open not my mouth
I sing in my head
the happy tunes
that can save the world

Blood Stained Tears
blood stained tears
that cover the hands
of lethargy
deaf to the cries
of blatant pain
screaming for love
cutting flesh with mirrors
of self-love
that promise happiness
reaching the mountain top
of bliss
~euphoria~
flotation devices
in the blood of the fallen
...till the storm approaches
and the waves
beat them to the bottom of emotion
weighed down
by the anchor of self-loathing
...too late to be saved
by the love of the Real
love them NOW
before they drown
and their blood
is on your hands

O Thou Who Hast Our Sorrows Borne
O Thou who hast our sorrows borne,
Help us to look on Thee and mourn,
On Thee whom we have slain,
Have pierced a thousand thousand times,
And by reiterated crimes
Renewed Thy mortal pain.
Vouchsafe us eyes of faith to see
The Man transfixed on Calvary,
To know Thee, who Thou art,
The one eternal God and true;
And let the sight affect, subdue,
And break my stubborn heart.
Lover of souls, to rescue mine,
Reveal the charity divine,
That suffered in my stead;
That made Thy soul a sacrifice,
And quenched in death those flaming eyes,
And bowed that sacred head.
The veil of unbelief remove,
And by Thy manifested love,
And by Thy sprinkled blood,
Destroy the love of sin in me,
And get Thyself the victory,
And bring me back to God.
Now let Thy dying love constrain
My soul to love its God again,
Its God to glorify;
And lo! I come Thy cross to share,
Echo Thy sacrificial prayer,
And with my Saviour die.
Isaiah 53:4-6
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

One Word
I woke up this morning with this upon my heart.
This is my morning worship to Thee oh God and may others join in this prayer.
There are none in front of Thee
There are none behind Thee
There are none beside Thee
You are One
When the sun rises in the morning
I remember Your mercies are new
When the moon shines in the night
I reflect upon Your love
For Your Son is beautiful
the reflection of the brightness of Your glory
We dare not look upon Your eyes
for You are a consuming fire
Yet your love demands intimacy
drawing us upon every Word
You call upon the morning dew
and we hear Your gentle voice in the Breeze
No language can convey
the sweetness of Your voice
How long will You tarry?
when will You speak again?
Our ears are to the ground
as we lie prostrate to the earth
Is this Your voice we hear
or do we listen for another?
Come oh God of Creation
speak to Your creatures
once again
Just one more word
to get us through the night
For You have said
we will endure unto the end
and thus we call to You
for You are our strength
else we die

To Be a Kid
I want to go cra-zay
get off the grid
let it all hang out
like I was still a kid
none of the worries
none of the pain
none of the junk
that now fills my brain
I want to go jump rope
swing from a tree
slam dunk a do-nut
maybe even in tea
Run my nails down a chalkboard
just for the thrill
use chalk on the sidewalk
and roll down a hill
I want to get lost in the woods
and scream out loud
jump in a fountain
in front of a crowd
Ride my cool bike
and jump a big ramp
make the longest skid mark
proclaim I'm the champ
I will be Superman
and you can be Darth Vader
I can mix and match movies
don't be a hater
You can't find me
when I hide in a tree
I am a Ninja
before you count to three
Dreams are dreams
but I live again
every moment I take time
to play with my children

No Mail Today
car accident on the way home
glad i missed that one
mother crossing the street
making sure her children are safe
a dead dog lies on the side of the road
making sure her children are safe
a dead dog lies on the side of the road
hmm i wonder if that's the one
on the missing dog posters?
there's the guy that runs
every night after work
what is he running from anyway?
hope i miss the red light this time
then i won't have to look
in that homeless man's face again
probably spend the money on beer anyway
if i was thoughtful i could of at least brought a sandwich
oh boy, my car is filthy
but it's too late to go to the car wash
maybe i could pay the homeless man to wash it
nah too much trouble
i'll just go home, get the mail
like i always do
wait, it's a holiday
which one is it? oh yeah
Veteran's Day
i almost forgot

I don't know how you feel ... but I feel sunshine
How can I ever know
How can I ever see
the depths
the love
haunting me
like the sunshine
warming my face
I smile at your presence
and I never want to
leave this place
but your warmth
is not for me
the sun is for the world
your beauty
is for all to see
CHORUS:
but I don't know
what it feels like
to be you
to be you
maybe someday
I could be like
the moon
reflecting your sunshine
showing your grace
maybe I'm in love
with your pain
that makes me
feel
a thousand sad days
forgiven
maybe it's that smile
that lights the stars
that gives twinkle
to the eyes
of the blind
CHORUS:
but I don't know
what it feels like
to be you
to be you

"Las Vegas logs 5 murder-suicides -- in two weeks!"
This is the title I read tonight from a news article. I am tired of reading headlines like this. It seems it is almost everyday that I read or hear about a killing locally or nationwide. What sadness and hopelessness people must be facing to murder and then take their own life! Life is precious and God-given. The devil goes about destroying, seeking whom he may devour. I find myself throwing pity parties and stressing over life, yet I have the Lord of Life living within my soul. People are truly hopeless without God. Why do I crawl back to the same pit of sorrow? Why do I not hold the rope of hope, held by faith and the grace of God? We have a hope that is sure. We have a tower to run to that will not move. As David told himself, "Soul, hope in God!". Maybe we need to tell ourselves to quit focusing on our troubles and to "hope in God!". Our flesh wants to take comfort in covetousness, hobbies, music, food, etc. etc. We worship at the altar of ourselves, confessing ourselves as gods. Oh Father, forgive us! Lay hold on our hearts once again and rend the heavens. Pour down your mercy like rain. Let Your Holy Spirit blow upon Your people and revive us once again! We face many dangers, but the most difficult is our old man. We are born again and no longer are chained to sins leading to death. The chains are broken and He holds the key. Be not bound again with chains of this world. Look to Freedom and Live! We truly are murderers at heart, but You have given us a new heart! Save our Souls. This world is dying. Our hearts are sighing. People are crying and we focus on our own tears. Give us power through Your Word to help the helpless. We are helpless O Lord. You are our Helper. Help us that we may help them. Change us that we may change this world. Blessed is the nation who's God is the Lord. Take back our nation O God. Let us be under Your reign once again. Let us have life, liberty and happiness as we seek to glorify the God of the Universe. Sin brings death. Your law brings life. Let Your Word Reign.
