Denying conscience
Forbidding the wooing of whispers
Blood shed for payment
yet captive by the tempters
There is a Devil
joke as you may
but a battle ensues
as you continue to play
He laughs at your naivety
your pompous activity
drowning in pleasures
of endless frivolity
Choking on sins
that pin you to the ground
that once were a pleasure
but now a sad clown
You MUST continue
for it is your master
to him will you bow
for ever after
But one last call
whispers in your ear
come home my child
shed your last tear
For my call goes out
to the weak and the weary
take now my hand
and avoid my fury
for there will come a day
my patience will end
and I must punish
all who offend
Do not forget
it was I who created
this design of grace
of which you have hated
No greater love
could I ever display
than the blood of my Son
on that chosen day
My Spirit is calling
one last time
take the payment now
or pay for your crime

Continued meditation brings great profit to the soul. Passant and transient thoughts are more pleasant, but not so profitable. Deliberate meditation is of most use because it secures the return of the thoughts. —Thomas Manton

One Last Call

Sunflower
Wilting Sunflower
From days gone by
Slowly reminding
Of the fall to come
Snow covers
Holding it down
Yielding to sacrifice
of all
What comes forth
Shall be seen…
Spring will
Come again.
