Simply Free

Of all the places I’ve been
Of all the people I’ve seen
It is finally good to be free
Free from the pressure
Free from the fame
Free from the high-tech gadgets of shame
Trees and grass and hills and cool breeze
I thank God for all of these
The flower, the April shower
In these I see God’s power
I see His love I see His hand
For He has given all this to man
The pursuit of God this is my need
And it is to the simple things I take heed
Thank you for the stars
Thank you for the moon
Thank you for the sun
That shines in the afternoon
Thank you for the seas
Thank you for the mountains
Thank you for the snow
And thank you for the fountains
You give me sight
You give me breath
I feel my heart beat
You protect me from death
I simply thank you as I bow my knee
That You’ve taught me what it is to be free.

A Moment

A euphoria breath
Freeze this moment
Short it may be
Light and free
I hold it tight
Can’t let go
Don’t leave my sight
You are mine
I feel now
No pain no sorrow no confusion
Like the moment over a hill on a country road
I lift off, but must land
Give me your hand
Together we stand
Oh together we land
I savor these short moments
I must now breathe

When you truly see Him as He is

Complain

It seems no matter how good we have it, we still find ways to complain. This is just a simple saying to provoke thought on this matter.

Some people complain about a paper cut
Some complain of a stubbed toe.
Some people have been stabbed in the gut
Some have never been so low.
Others envy what they don’t have
They think it is greener.
Still others have nothing
And life could be no meaner.
Some want all the attention
They think they deserve it.
Some barely raise their head
For they have been through it.
Some complain of the weather
And how it is not fitting.
Some have no clothes
And their home is where they’re sitting
Some complain of what they eat
While their stomachs fill to end
Others scrape the garbage bin
Or whatever they can fend
So unless you’ve been through it
Unless you’ve lost It all
Thank God for what you do have
Before you too shall fall.

Words

I still find it difficult to share words. As I meditate on why, I think the following thought:

The written word has no physical tone, motion, or action. Therefore, people interpret words through there own emotional cipher. Only truth can shine through. There can be no other interpretation. Truth is truth. The best friend one can have is the one who speaks truth. There is nothing to interpret. Have you listened to the One Who always speaks truth? If we honestly listen, there is no need for interpretation, but rather a need for immediate obedience.
Engulf yourself in the Word of Truth and your thoughts will breathe out true words.

All in All

Just a thought for today as I listen to this song by Fernando Ortega.
Take everything. I am a son of the One Who has all. You cannot take anything.
Every day I must be reminded I am naked. Yet be truly rich, because every need and desire is fulfilled in Him.
He gave me everything and to be discontent is to deny my Father's gift and to give in to idles.

Allison caught a picture of this buck in the back yard just a few days after we moved in.

The C's of life

Below are different writings over the last couple years. I have more I may share later, but these are some of the seas I have ridden through.
Over the past couple years the Lord ripped pride from the depths of my heart and the words that fell on paper were blood stains left from the surgery. The comments may seem odd or confusing at times. It almost pains me to share these thoughts. I ask that you don't take everything literally. Some comments are literal, some are metaphorical, some are satirical, some are simple, some are strange. Don't assume you know my thoughts unless I give you my personal interpretation. My hope is that all the writings I eventually share will help people have a personal interpretation that speaks to them.
Welcome to the corridors of my psychotic brain. You may need a key.

Complexity

Hope and fame and shame and dope
Pressure high, can you cope
Famous for what
Have you shut…
Out what is best
Pushing your heart to the test
Laughing, crying, emotions dying
Left, right, straight, fight
Making, breaking, shaking your fist
Outside thriving, inside dying
Twisted, fisted, death train listed
Caverned thoughts, infested minds
Deeper yet, sunny skies
So it seems, but only dreams
Roll the log, misty fog
Not known, not shown
Dark cover, cover blown
Down with gravity, light reality
Knowing the truth, taking you home
Flip side seen, not a machine
All so clear, no more fear
Day breaks – Night falls

Control

Rusted to bone to wrath to stone
Survive the tide the pain lets hide
Broken the whole revealing the soul
Now I know how Adam felt
To his knees he knelt
We are naked
The Light is bright
Now begins the fight
War of the soul
Demons try to hold
Never ending battle
From sword to rattle
The Book is written
What will will
And what was is
And the future is His
No power formed
No light brighter
No darkness beneath
No fire can quench
It will be as it was
It will be as it is
It will be.

Content

Let me be content to be
Content to move content to see
Let me be content with all
Whatever you send wherever you call
Let me be content to remain
Whether it’s fancy whether it’s plain
Let me be content with me
No matter what reflection I see
Not for reflections unlike Thee
But rather just how you made me
And if these things you take from me
Let me remain content with Thee

Confused

Crawling, slithering, creeping
Into the guarded castle
Walls as stone turn to sand
Giving passage from water to land
What seemed strong didn’t take long
To turn from might to a fight
Arrows in the sky turn day to night
What was clear now dims the sight
Passages secret or known
Now just a haze
Who’s on the throne?
It’s all a maze
Deadness, coldness
Rottenness, darkness
Evil or good?
Who can stop this?
What will happen?
Will the castle stay?
What can we do?
We can only pray.
Burn to the ground
Or come what may
It matters no longer
The Foundation will stay
Or does that matter?
What did I say?
Oh well, I will go play
Or did I mean pray?

Change

Dollar for a penny
Pain almost seems funny
Throw to the wind
Fall what may
What will you find?
Grip like rope on the neck
Tighten it – what the heck?
Trample the swine
Rattlesnakes are not mine
Play the fiddle
Kill the dance
Only eternal things will last
Fast paced city
Laid back with pity
Run for the hills
Enough of the thrills
Maybe life will change
A different denomination
Penny for a dollar
